Renaissance Art
Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci (1503ââ¬â1519) Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Renaissance Art specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Source: http://totallyhistory.com/mona-lisa/ Communication The Mona Lisa is a painting symbolizing the look of Lisa Gherardini, wife of Francesco Del Giocono. It is a portrait by da Vinci, one of the Renaissance masters, in honor of Francescoââ¬â¢s wife. The image puts across a message about the family of Francesco. The main message regards celebration of a new family member-the second male baby, and the completion of their home in Florence, Italy. It is worth noting with keen interest that the actual meaning of the painting remained a mystery to many people in the globe, until 2005. Techniques Da Vinci employed a ââ¬Å"velatureâ⬠technique in his work. The artist used oil paint, cotton and poplar wood to come up with the artwork. This painting is unique since it in corporates a poplar wood surface as compared to most paintings of da Vinciââ¬â¢s time, which used canvas. There are several colors used including brown, gray, green and blue which generate a high level of unity in the work (Boddy-Evans, 2012). He painted a different color on top of another, thereby creating a delectable form. This gives Mona Lisa a superb depth, one which would not be achieved by a mixture of colors. He used sfumato and included soft colors, as well as dark glazes on the edges of lips and eyes. The artist laid emphasis on the arms, eyes as well as the lips through a shadowing technique. This makes the painting stand out among other paintings since it depicts the picture as one of a person who is alive. Furthermore, the artist used an aerial perspective, as well as a beautiful landscape to create the background of his piece of art (Boddy-Evans, 2012). The painting has no visible brush marks of a poor artwork. Da Vinci employed a pyramid design, whereby he placed t he image of the woman calmly on the poplar wood. The work depicts a sense of harmony, and the smile of the woman shows happiness. Owing to his experience in anatomy and mathematics, he established a perfect size for the portrait. The artwork is an outstanding painting in the world. It has influenced modern artists to upgrade their degree of painting. It is a source of inspiration for many women who endeavor to leave a lasting impression on peopleââ¬â¢s faces through their smiles and joy. Moreover, its use in numerous crockery items like mugs and clothes such as T-shirts cannot be underratedAdvertising Looking for research paper on art and design? Let's see if we can help you! In this artwork, Michelangelo intended to communicate the beginning of the world and the need for salvation by humankind (Aston, 1979). The artwork shows God surrounded by angels. God is floating with his left arm pointing the moon, whereas his right arm points the sun. The angels are full of amusement at what God has created. According to early traditions of Italy, dating back to the 4th century, the moon and the sun were of high regard in the country. The moon was a symbol of the Virgin Maryââ¬â¢s influence on the church, and the sun had an association with Christ. Techniques Michelangelo used oil paint and canvas to present his artwork on a landscape (Aston, 1979). He used cangiante whereby different shades of brown show details of the peopleââ¬â¢s bodies and the garment covering them. Use of gray on the background creates a high unity level in the work. White shows Godââ¬â¢s beard signifyin g his old age. The artist highlighted some areas and gave a shadow effect in others. The outstretching arms of God symbolize Christââ¬â¢s hanging on the cross. The sun signifies the illumination that Christ would bring on earth through his miracles and salvation through his death. The moon symbolizes the purity of the Virgin Mary and her association with the church. The look on Godââ¬â¢s face suggests future predictions, probably a feeling that Christ would suffer in the hands of men and would be crucified. This artwork has influenced a lot of people, especially Christians, who hold beliefs about the sacred nature of God. They believe that Jesus was the son of God, and he died in order to save them.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Renaissance Art specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More References Aston, M. Why Your Next Key Content Tool Should Be AMP
If youââ¬â¢ve been researching ways to optimize your mobile website, you may have come across Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). There are some key benefits and itââ¬â¢s important to understand what they are. Therefore, Iââ¬â¢ve put together a crash course on AMP to get you up to speed. Whatââ¬â¢s AMP? The AMP project, which was developed by Google and launched in early 2016, is an open-source framework for creating mobile webpages that load fast. You can think of it as an ultra-lightweight version of HTML and it has even been described as ââ¬Å"diet HTML.â⬠But HTML isnââ¬â¢t the only web technology that gets stripped down to meet AMP specifications. The framework also optimizes load times by placing certain restrictions on CSS usage and by not allowing author-written JavaScript. Some of AMPââ¬â¢s biggest gains in speed, however, come from its caching system. The Google AMP Cache acts as a content delivery system, caching your AMP-enabled pages and serving them up more efficiently than if they had been served from your own domain. The Need for Speed Because todayââ¬â¢s mobile users have shorter attention spans than ever and are quick to give up on a page if it doesnââ¬â¢t load quickly enough for them, itââ¬â¢s critical to make sure your page load quickly. Research from Google indicates that 53% of users will abandon a website if it takes more than three seconds to load. An AMP-enabled page is designed to load in far less than those dreaded three seconds, with a median load time of under one second. Understanding the Benefits of AMPs Thereââ¬â¢s no doubt that faster-loading pages are a good thing, but the benefits of AMP-enabled pages are more far-reaching: Improved user experience: When your pages load more quickly, users are more likely to stay on your site and return to it in the future. A positive user experience is also likely to increase conversions. Higher ranking in search results: While AMP isnââ¬â¢t necessarily a ranking factor on its own, thereââ¬â¢s no doubt that Google looks more kindly on fast-loading mobile pages. Better visibility: AMP pages are displayed in search results with a lightning bolt symbol. Not only does this help your search results stand out from the crowd, but it may also boost click-through rates as more and more users look for quicker-loading pages. How to ââ¬Å"AMP Upâ⬠Your Content If you have a WordPress site, youââ¬â¢re in luckââ¬â a plugin by Automatic is available that creates dynamically-generated AMP-enabled pages for you. These pages are accessed by adding /amp to the URLs of your existing posts. If youââ¬â¢re not using WordPress, youââ¬â¢ll have to create and maintain two versions of your web pages: the regular version and the AMP-ready version. Donââ¬â¢t be intimidated by this task, there are plenty of tutorials, templates and boilerplates online to get you started on the right track. AMP is a powerful addition to your current content toolbox, but it wonââ¬â¢t deliver success on its own. Even the worldââ¬â¢s speediest load times canââ¬â¢t make up for boring content. To get the most out of AMP, you need to ensure that your content is fresh, engaging and well-written. With a steady supply of quality content and the fast load times that come with AMP-enabled pages, youââ¬â¢re sure to see a boost in your search rankings, traffic and overall engagement.

Oration vs. Peroration
Oration vs. Peroration Oration vs. Peroration Oration vs. Peroration By Maeve Maddox The Chicago Manual of Style warns careful writers to avoid confusing the words oration and peroration: A peroration, strictly speaking, is the conclusion of an oration (speech). Careful writers avoid using peroration to refer to a rousing speech or text. In its rhetorical sense, a peroration is the concluding part of a speech intended to sum things up and rouse the audience to some action. He[concluded] his speech with a peroration whose purpose was to remind the audience that he was among the few Republicans with a plausible shot at occupying the White House. Toward the end of the speech, King departed from his prepared text for a partly improvised peroration on the theme I have a dream The expression ââ¬Å"a rousing perorationâ⬠in the sense of ââ¬Å"a fiery speech,â⬠is to be avoided, if for no other reason than itââ¬â¢s a clichà ©. In other contexts, however, the word peroration has been used since the 15th century to refer to a whole speech or utterance. Shakespeare used peroration in 1591 as a synonym for discourse: Nephew, what means this passionate discourse, â⬠¨This peroration with such circumstance? â⬠¨For France, tis ours; and we will keep it still. ââ¬âHenry VI, Part II, I.i, 111. Later writers, including Harriet Beecher Stowe, Sinclair Lewis, Mark Twain, and F. Scott Fitzgerald, all used peroration to refer to comments other than the concluding part of an oration. In the following example from recent news item, peroration refers to a speech and not to the concluding part of a speech: When the de Blasios arrived a little after 10, the candidate gave a brief peroration to the gathering outside, which surely numbered more than one hundred. Certainly it would be an error to speak of ââ¬Å"the perorations of Periclesâ⬠if what is meant are ââ¬Å"the orations of Pericles.â⬠But while the use of peroration as a synonym for speech might be justly considered stilted diction, itââ¬â¢s not an occasion for ridicule. Calling a politicianââ¬â¢s whistle stop speech a peroration is no worse than using decimate to mean ââ¬Å"to kill an indeterminate number of peopleâ⬠because the wordââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"realâ⬠meaning is ââ¬Å"to kill one in ten.â⬠Want to improve your English in five minutes a day?
